Marriage Advice

Give this some serious consideration or you will have a very unhappy wife.

Money

Filipino’s believe that the kids should support
the parents. Your wife will want to send money back home to her family. She will probably insist on working at a job here. These ladies are fiercely independent and want to contribute.

Homesickness

Some Filipinas deal with homesickness better than others. Understand that: she will get it bad! Here are some suggestions:

  1. Find the nearest source of Tagalog DVD's.
  2. See if your cable provider carries the Filipino Channel.
  3. Internet chat groups, there are some that are for Filipino ladies that have immigrated here.
  4. Let her call her family regularly on the phone. You can save money by using calling cards. You can get cheap Calling Cards that support U.S. mobile to Philippine mobile.
  5. She can chat with her family using a webcam.
  6. There are two Filipino cable TV channels that are popular.

             1. THE FILIPINO CHANNEL

             2. GMA PINOY

Weather

These ladies are used to a very hot and humid climate and easily get cold or feel cold all the time. Buy here lots of sweaters and jackets. Try to keep it hot enough that she feels comfortable. This usually gets "better" in time. In you live in a very cold place.....good luck!

Dry Skin

Because it's so humid in the Philippines, the ladies suffer very badly from dry skin. Makes them itch and uncomfortable. I suggest you get some kind of humidifier and use it. Lot's of extra strength lotions too.

Food

Find the nearest Chinese and Filipino restaurants to where you live and the nearest Asian supermarket. Chinese fast-food places too. The whole food issue can cause stress on your relationship, so be prepared.

Babies

There is about a 99% chance she will want to have a baby. So be well prepared for this.

How do I get an NSO Certified Birth Certificate?

If the National Statistics Office has the record on file, you can order one from them online at:
www.e-census.com.ph/

Otherwise, the applicant may have to file a Delayed Registration of Birth at the municipality or town in the Philippines where he or she was born.

For more information on how to file a Delayed Registration of Birth, go to: www.census.gov.ph/

To contact the National Statistics Office, visit: www.census.gov.ph/data/aboutnso/centralofcs.html

Citizenship Timeline

Q: How long does it take from the time the citizen application is sent to the Oath ceremony? On the average.

A: 5-8 months.

Warm wishes to you and your love!

Mabuhay!
